Top CMS patient data reporting officials speak of harmonization

NEW ORLEANS --  CMS' message at HIMSS 2013 to beleaguered health care providers in the midst of implementing meaningful use, HIPAA, accountable care organization data initiatives and other projects requiring quality reporting is: Don't panic.

Rob Anthony, deputy director for health IT initiatives at CMS and his colleague, Rob Tagalicod, director of the Office of E-Health Standards and Services, sat down with us to outline their vision of harmonizing patient data reporting standards and simplifying the administrative burdens health care providers face in participating in these various programs.
