SnapMD releases upgraded telemedicine app Virtual Care 2.0

SnapMD added some new features to the Virtual Care app, such as the software development kit. It also improved existing features, like video functionality.

SnapMD has released the 2.0 version of its Virtual Care mobile app for Android and iOS devices. According to the vendor, the telemedicine app has been fully rebuilt on a new foundation and includes a new software development kit, customizable intake forms, improved video feed functionality, expanded branding options and text chat features.

The new software development kit (SDK) enables users to have an embeddable telehealth platform. Partnering hospitals, health systems and practices can embed modules from Virtual Care into their existing apps, or they can build an entirely new app using the SDK.

Customizable intake forms are also now available for Virtual Care 2.0 web and mobile. Using the customizable forms, providers and hospitals can tailor forms to meet their specific needs. Admins can adjust forms to include information about things like patient allergies, what medications a patient takes, any specialty care instructions, insurance, payment information and more. This feature enables app policies and procedures to be customized to the organization's specific legal requirements, as well.

Virtual Care also added more virtual encounter features and a new video functionality. Virtual Care video users can now switch the primary patient-provider video feed and change the feed layout. The new features also enable patients to snap photos during video to provide documentation.

Additionally, guest video feeds are now available. This enables up to six people, including the patient, to join a virtual exam room session. Patients now have access to a text chat feature, which SnapMD claimed enables them to better interact with providers for more effective and efficient triage and care.

Other updates were made to improve navigation and enable easier access to services, such as scheduling a virtual visit or entering a virtual exam room.

SnapMD uses private cloud servers that are hosted in a secured, third-party server center and supported by a backup server facility. The SnapMD data center is compliant with SSAE-16 SOC I Type II, Payment Card Industry, HIPAA and HITECH.
