A simpler and mobile way to manage health plans regardless of payer

For sometime now, there have been many Apps that helped individuals manage some of their day-to-day challenges.  In the area of finance, applications like Mint; smart phone and tablet users have been able to gain quick and easy access to incredibly valuable information relating to their finances.  With its simple and easy to use dashboard Mint and few other companies have been providing data that is collected from many financial institutes and centrally available for the end users to mange from one place without having to logon to different portals.

In healthcare, as health plans offered continue to change due to high cost concerns and regulatory changes many are finding themselves reviewing in greater detail everything from their benefits details to their EOBs (Explanation of benefits).  While some payers provide some of the information online, many are still sending paper documents to the patients.  All this information can be confusing at times for patients, and one group has identified a creative way of presenting all the information as well as helping payers better communicate with their beneficiaries.

Simplee is a new website that is designed to help solve some of the most common healthcare frustrations that are relating to paying medical bills and health plans.

The website allows its users to keep record of all their medical bills and history regardless of insurance.  While the site currently allows patients to view claims from many of the large health plans in the US (including Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Empire BlueCross BlueShield, and BlueCross BlueShield of California), they are continuously adding new ones.

Simplee seems to be a first step toward allowing health plan holders to easily manage their medical expenses regardless of the plan.  This online service seems to make it simpler to identify what benefits are available and what is being billed behind the scene.
