Editor's note

Health IT professionals are continuing to adopt innovative technologies that help digitally transform the way healthcare is driven and delivered. They encounter familiar challenges, including cyberattacks on hospitals, health reform hurdles and public health management issues, but also new opportunities like the applications of AI and machine learning to increase efficiencies and the implementation of data analytics tools to improve patient care.

Like many other technology conferences scheduled this year, concerns over the coronavirus have taken a toll on HIMSS Orlando 2020. Amidst a number of notable vendors withdrawing from the conference, the show was officially cancelled on March 5. However, organizers said that plans for a digital conference are in the making.

The annual conference typically draws nearly 45,000 health IT professionals from around the world who come together to connect and learn more about profound technological changes in the healthcare industry.
