Health IT developers looking to flex their coding muscles in the area of health information exchange are in luck. The next CONNECT Code-A-Thon event — where developers from around the country are invited to work directly with the CONNECT development team on coding and architecture ideas — has been scheduled for next month.
CONNECT is open source software that uses Nationwide Health Information Network, or NHIN, standards and governance to support both local and national health information exchange. Version 3.0 was released in June.
The Code-A-Thon will be hosted by the Mayo Clinic on September 21-22 in Rochester, Minn. Participants will help with bug fixes, provide code contributions, improve documentation, and share ideas and best practices involving the CONNECT software.
