One hospital CIO details a bumpy path to meaningful use

In this podcast, the CIO of a 232-bed hospital discusses the obstacles it is facing to meet the requirements for meaningful use. These include upgrading its clinical apps and infrastructure.

Chuck Christian is CIO of Good Samaritan Hospital, a 232-bed, 1,600-employee facility in Vincennes, Ind., that serves southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois. Christian, who also is a fellow with the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, or CHIME, discusses meaningful use and the technology hurdles his hospital is facing to meet its requirements. He also talks about the challenges that Good Samaritan has faced in trying to build a personal health record (PHR) portal suitable for patients and doctors.
