HIPAA omnibus rule takes center stage at patient privacy conference

PHI Protection Network's first Boston forum throws the spotlight on HIPAA omnibus rule compliance, data breach prevention and patient privacy.

The PHI Protection Network convened a meeting of high-level IT and patient privacy executives to discuss numerous technology issues surrounding data breach prevention and how best to enforce compliance with new HIPAA omnibus rule mandates set to be enforced in late September.

In this podcast, we discuss the highlights of the proceedings -- and pass along some of the speakers' advice for updating your own facility's privacy and security plans for that compliance deadline, as well as shoring up the health care IT environment's vulnerabilities in preparation for new HIPAA audits.
