 Next step in tech adoption
Is there a next step for the government to encourage health care facilities to adopt new technologies like EHRs, HIE, e-prescribing etc.? Or is it up to the facilities to adopt now or be left behind?

Answer Wiki:
The incentive program has shown many positive signs in terms of adoption of certified EHR, HIE and ePrescribing.  With a combination of fear of penalties, as well as potential incentives available, it makes for a compelling reason for organizations to evaluate what is available.  But the reality is that a facility should decide to adopt any technology based on the value it ultimately will provide to its patients and staff. It is becoming a critical component for a facility to have specific technologies, not only to compete, but to maintain the the level of care and efficiency needed in order to navigate through the shrinking reimbursements and increasing penalties.
